Position Summary
The Finishing Kitchen Assistant plays a vital, hands-on role within the Dolce Bakery team. This individual is dedicated to ensuring the finishing kitchen operates efficiently, remains well-organized, and stays clean at all times. The position encompasses a variety of essential preparation, cleaning, and organizational responsibilities. A positive, proactive, and collaborative attitude is fundamental, as these qualities support the consistent execution and smooth flow of bakery production.Core Responsibilities & Training Opportunities
1. Production Support
- Cookie Department:
- Assist with preparing icing, including mixing custom colors, and assembling cookie kits.
- Support general cookie production tasks, such as rolling out dough, boxing finished cookies, and handling general prep work.
- Maintain an organized freezer inventory for the department.
- Opportunity to learn and develop foundational cookie decorating skills, including outlining and flooding techniques.
- Cake Department:
- Prepare icing and mix custom colors as required.
- Assist with baking, cooling (turning out), and fundamental cake preparation such as torting, filling, and base icing.
- Conduct regular freezer inventory counts and manage general department preparation duties.
- Opportunity to develop skills in cake writing and decoration.
2. Inventory & Organization
- Maintain the overall organization and workflow of the finishing kitchen.
- Manage stock by refilling ingredient bins, rotating inventory, and restocking supplies as needed.
- Ensure expired items are disposed of in a timely manner.
3. Cleaning & Maintenance
- Uphold daily kitchen cleanliness standards, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing all workstations.
- Manage removal of trash and recycling from the workspace.
- Perform scheduled deep cleaning of equipment and workspaces to maintain hygiene and operational standards.
4. General Duties
- Maintain a flexible and positive demeanor, proactively offering support wherever it is needed across the team.
- Run errands and assist with deliveries as required to support the overall workflow of the kitchen.

Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and walk for extended shifts.
- Capable of lifting and carrying at least 50 pounds.
- Frequent actions required, such as bending, reaching, and utilizing hands for various tasks.
- Comfortable immersing hands in water for cleaning procedures.
- Able to work in a kitchen environment that is often warm and humid.
Experience & Training
- Previous experience in a restaurant or bakery environment is a plus, though not required.
- A strong willingness to learn and a desire to develop skills in a professional kitchen setting are essential.
